A Brief History

Curtis Power & Co. Ltd, derived its name over 65 years ago in 1952, from the founders of the business , Mr John Power from Waterford, Ireland and Mr Harvey Curtis from Sheffield.

After Mr Curtis's retirement in the 1970's the business has continued to operate under the management of members of Mr Powers immediate family.

Over the years the business has undertaken many large contracts supplying companies such as British Acheson's, Brown Bayley's and Dunford Hadfield's, the latter two now being the site of the Meadowhall Shopping Centre where once again the company provided all the necessary crane hire during its initial construction.

Other local projects where Curtis Power have been involved include the Sheffield Supertram, the Don Valley regeneration programme, Sheffield Hallam University and the University Of Sheffield.

They remain a local, reputable, family business and with their knowledge and expertise were able to provide their brand new addition to the fleet, the 100 ton capacity Tadano 90AT crane to lift the new chiller unit and the UV panels onto the roof of the Sheffield Lyceum as part of its £1.9 million refurbishment.
